Sunday afternoon’s international boxing event in Coley’s was a ‘knockout’ success!
Talented young boxers from both England and Ireland competed, with the 17 bouts fought in front of a crowd of more than 250 people.
As well as Clayton Amateur Boxing Club, the event also welcomed Templemore Boxing Club and Bantry Boxing Club to the brand new facility.
Stanley’s Managing Director, David Burgess said: “It was great to welcome the young boxers to Coley’s on Sunday, and for us to be able to engage with our local community in such an enjoyable way.
“With over 250 people in attendance, the afternoon was a huge success and we can’t wait to host similar events in the future.”
Clayton Amateur Boxing Club, a non-for-profit organisation, recently moved into a new home at the Clayton Civic Hall after being awarded a Sport England, Community Asset Fund grant.
With a long history of serving the local community, providing a safe community for hundreds of children and young people, the £50,000 grant has allowed the club to transform Clayton Civic Hall into a boxing and fitness facility, encouraging more females to get involved with their programmes, as well as providing opportunities for young people and adults with disability or additional needs.
